Ocean City's coastal climate

Ocean City sits on a barrier island, so the Atlantic moderates its temperatures compared to inland Maryland — summers are slightly cooler and winters slightly milder than Baltimore, but wind off the water is a near-constant factor in how the weather actually feels. Sea breezes keep afternoons bearable even at the height of summer, while the same exposure means Nor'easters and tropical systems can bring beach erosion, tidal flooding, and rip-current risk well before any rain actually arrives.

Beach season runs roughly Memorial Day through Labor Day, with water temperatures warm enough for swimming from June through September. Check the active-alerts banner above before heading to the water — coastal flood and rip current statements are common here even on otherwise sunny days.
